Swin Cash Introduces 'She's Got Time' Summit Featuring Dynamic Women in Sports (2024)

Almost two decades ago, Swin Cash and her Detroit Shock teammates achieved a remarkable feat by defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 83-78 to win their first WNBA championship. In another amazing worst-to-first story in sports history, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer contributed to their team's championship win with an impressive triple-double of 13 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds, further adding to her already impressive reputation.

Today, Cash is the Vice President of Basketball Operations for the New Orleans Pelicans who's hoping to impactwomen in sports through herShe's Got Timesummit. The symposiumwill take place on June 28-30 in New Orleans, LA, a few days before the Essence Music Festival.

"One of the things that I've always been passionate about is giving back to not only those women who are my peers, but also young girls that are coming up and want to have a career in sports. I t's been a passion of mine," Swin Cash shared about founding She's Got Time. "That's the basis of how She's Got Time came about. Last year, I was going through my Hall of Fame induction, and working on my speech, trying to understand my purpose because that's the pinnacle."

Cash hopes that She's Got Time will be a tentpole event to drive awareness for women in sports with a star-studded lineup of speakers like Gayle Benson (Owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans), Mistie Bass-Boyd (Nike Executive), Sue Bird (Founder, Togethxr), Tamika Tremaglio (ED, NBPA), Shaneika Dabney-Henderson (VP of Production - Saints and Pelicans), Nicole Pullen Ross (Goldman Sachs Executive), Kristin Bernert (President of Business Operations, Columbus Crew), and Jen Hale (CEO, Sideline Pass).

Swin Cash believes what sets She's Got Time apart from other symposiums is "our ability to reach beyond just women who work in operations or women who work in business. She's Got Time is an ecosystem that is diverse, bringing cultural and resource elements. It's inspiring and has intergenerational connectivity."

It's essential to support women seeking mentorship and guidance on issues related to bias, sexism, gender, and systematic discrimination. These challenges can affect various aspects of their careers, such as business administration, marketing, production, public relations, and media.

"So we're casting a wider net," Cash noted. "We're not just saying that you have to be exclusively in one area of the business. We're trying to create this cross-pollination of women who are working so that you're hearing and understanding not only what you're doing in your business but how everyone else is operating. I felt that was missing in a void we're trying to fill. That's She's Got Time; that's our sweet spot."
