CLARK COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS2+ weeks agoAgencyVancouver Police investigate head-on DUI collision - 05/16/2024: Last night at around 10:00 p. m., while Vancouver Police were investigating a disturbance with weapons call in the 2200 block of St. Johns Blvd., they heard a loud crash at St Johns Blvd/E 29th St. Officers ran over to provide assistance and found that two vehicles had been involved in a head-on collision. One of the vehicles (red Chevy Silverado) was traveling northbound on St. Johns Blvd. The other vehicle, (tan Toyota Tundra) was traveling southbound on St. Johns. The driver of the Silverado, crossed into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into the Tundra. The driver and passenger of the Tundra were both transported for non-life threatening, but serious, injuries including broken bones and a dislocated hip. The at-fault driver of the Silverado was booked into the Clark County Jail for two counts of Vehicular Assault and DUI. CLARK COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS2+ weeks agoAgencyCCSO Discovers Human Remains in Homeless Camp Following Citizen Report: On 4/22/2024, Clark County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) patrol deputies, acting on an online report from a resident, located partially decomposed human remains in a tent structure at a transient camp in the wooded area north of NE 179th St near NE 10th Ave. Due to several factors, including the difficulty accessing the site, a recovery plan was made for the morning. On 4/23/2024, volunteers from Clark County Search and Rescue and Silver Star Search and Rescue cut a path through the woods, allowing easier access to the transient camp. CCSO Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and the Clark County Medical Examiner’s office disassembled the tent structure and recovered the human remains. There were indications the remains had been there for an extended period of time, with initial estimates of between 6 – 12 months. The identity of the deceased is still under investigation by the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office. It is believed that the remains are of an adult male. At this point, there are no indications of foul play, but the death remains under investigation by CCSO MCU.112Like

CLARK COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS2+ weeks agoAgency12 People Arrested in Clark County Sheriff's Office Retail Theft Mission - The latest Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) retail theft operation resulted in a dozen arrests, including the apprehension of two prolific retail theft subjects. On Saturday, June 1st, 2024, CCSO’s Tactical Detective Unit, with the assistance of the Special Investigations Unit, Special Victims Unit, Patrol Deputies, and several retail partners, conducted the retail theft operation in Hazel Dell. Detectives made 12 arrests, including 10 for theft, one for trespassing, and one for a felony warrant related to organized retail theft. In addition to the cases created during the retail theft operation, investigators apprehended multiple prolific organized retail theft subjects with several pending cases. Often, retail theft suspects are not stealing items for personal use but are part of organized theft rings that steal items to be sold for cash or returned to stores for a fraudulent “refund.” Many of these subjects are also involved in other crimes, such as vehicle theft, illegal possession of firearms, drug distribution, identity theft, and more. These missions aim not only to disrupt retail thefts but also to impact additional associated criminal activity. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and our retail partners will continue conducting additional retail theft missions in other areas of our community.
